Tip 1. Learn Belly Breathing. Ok It has different names (like diaphragmatic breathing) but belly breathing is how people remember it and learn it the easiest, so that’s the term I use. Shallow breathing doesn’t nourish and relax the body. If you are new to this you may have to start slow, as sometimes it can make people dizzy. Go slow and steady. Put your hands on your belly and as you slowly (controlled breath) breath in, inflate the belly, as you breathe in. Then control your breathing on the way out and feel your belly contract. Warning you may sound like Darth Vadar you are are doing it correct. this cool! (This is the shortened version of course)
Tip 2. Nature Sounds or Nature Time. A few minutes in nature can really help you destress, reset and also help you get clarity on issues. So grab a cup of herbal tea (resource below) and sit outside for a few minutes each day and listen to the hawks, squirrels, and crickets. On days you can’t get outside, at least listen to nature sounds, youtube has freebies or look for something on Spotify or the like. Work up to getting outside more and more!
I love Lemon Balm Tea. (Melissa Off.) Melissa is in the mint family and is easy to grow and it makes a lovely tea. Its one of the first herbs my apprentices learn because its easy to grow and has some great uses and tastes really nice. I find that majority of people new to herbalism like the taste and so the compliance with this tea is usually good. Its very relaxing and again tastes yummy!
